Restricted access

In an normal work place at any company there will be situations where it is relevant to highlight that people should be aware of hazards in a given area. It may be steps, corners and edges, where people can hurt themselves, or it may be open holes, pits, spills or anything that you do not want people to have contact with.

For marking or restricting people from such hazards, there are plenty of tools. These could include tapes and lines, garlands, stands, temporary railings with planks or steel barriers.

Whatever you choose, you must be aware that there are special rules for selection in congested areas and on the road.

In other areas you must consider whether the restriction or marking should have light, flashing and/or reflecting. The environment should always be taken into account, so the restriction or marking will not be vulnerable to i.e. wind and weather.

One should also consider the choice of color. Red/white (barricade) and yellow/black (warning) can have different meanings in different contexts.
